Happy Day!

I am DONE with FIDM!!! Yayyy!! It's a great feeling! I actually have free time--a new concept to me! I definitely plan on enjoying it while it lasts! Now it's full-force job hunt mode for this girl... I'm not very good at being broke.

Beautiful congratulatory flowers from the best parents ever!

A Week Filled With Celebrities

Just when I thought my life was mundane and boring, a few exciting events happened this week.

Event #1-Wednesday: Kathy Lee Gifford came into the Michael Kors I work at!!! I had nooo clue who she was at the time! I was the only one on the floor at the time and was helping another client when she walked in. I greeted her, and she started browsing. She was very self-sufficient, which was a nice change of pace. I immediately recognized her voice, but couldn’t quite place it. I finished up with my other client and went to help Kathy. She was very nice! I asked her the typical lifestyle questions we ask every client (where are you from, what brings you to LA, etc.). I’m sure she thinks I live under a rock since I had no clue who she was. In my defense, she was wearing sunglasses. It finally all made sense when I saw the name on her credit card and saw her ID. Kathy's purchases are below. I just know she's going to give me a shout-out on her show! I just know it

Event #2-Thursday: A lot of paparazzi starting gather at The Ivy restaurant across the street from work. Since there were more than a few, I knew somebody big was on the street. All the sudden a crowd of people started gathering, so I knew somebody was somewhere! It turns out Kim and Rob Kardashian and Kris and Bruce Jenner were there. I saw all four in real life! I’ll keep my opinions of Kim to myself, Rob was kind of fat and not as cute (but drives a sick car…of course), Bruce looked the same, and Kris couldn’t make it down the stairs without help. They all left separately, except for Kris and Bruce. I couldn’t get any pictures because I was in the store L. I think Khloe might have been there, too, because she posted an Instagram pic of a meal at The Ivy, but either she left early, incognito, or through a back exit because she wasn’t part of the hoopla with the rest.

Event #3-Thursday: Danni, the winner of the Biggest Loser came into the Michael Kors I work at. I didn’t watch any of the season (the troubles of not having cable), but saw the final photos. I wouldn’t have recognized her, but she instantly said she won the Biggest Loser and wanted to buy a watch since she can afford it now. She was a sweet girl! She had on a jacket and shorts, but from what I could see, she looked great! Absolutely great! She didn’t want to talk much about it, which I understand as I’m sure that’s all she’s been talking about since winning. Such an inspiration!

More Bus Stories....

Of course I've been having more crazy bus experiences, but they don't seem to even phase me anymore. Is that sad?! It's like I'm becoming immune....not good! There is an experience worth sharing, though.

Back story~When I ride the bus, my bag sits next to me so nobody else can (rude, I know. But the people are just so....gross....), my ear buds are in my ears-no exception, and I always have either my Kindle or iPad along to read. I don't make eye contact with anyone and the only person I talk to is the bus driver to greet him/her and tell him/her thank you when I get off. I've got this down to a science! So anyway, as I'm sitting there reading my Kindle with my ear buds in, a guy sitting across the aisle literally pokes my arm like a little kid. I take my ear buds out to see what he wants. BIG MISTAKE! He wondered if we could go to a movie or get coffee sometime. Uhmmmm no thank you!! Just no!

I hope this little experience of mine amuses you. My mom finally agreed that it's time for my car out here, though. Silver lining for everything??

Weekend with the Parents

My parents came to visit me this past weekend. Yay! It was much overdue! Rain was forecasted for the entire weekend, so i was kind of worried! We encountered very little rain that didn't hinder our plans at all!

Mom and Dad got in late Thursday night. Friday morning we had breakfast at Bottega Louie, a cute French Bistro. Delicious! I had a shoe dilemma, so I was 5 minutes (if even that) late meeting them at their hotel. When I got there, dad was talking to some guy. Surprise, surprise. He introduced the guy to me as his best friend from high school. Yeah right! There are a million areas to stay in Los Angeles and a million hotels to choose from in each area. It was legit, though. He hadn't seen the guy (Kevin) for 15 years, but they recognized each other. Crazy!!! After breakfast we headed to Santa Monica. It was windy and chilly, but no rain! We wandered around and ate lunch on the pier. Friday night we went to the Lakers game. So much fun!!! They ended up winning, but didn't deserve to. They didn't play at all until all the sudden Kobe decided to tie the game to go into overtime. Then they actually (kind of) played. It's kind of sad when Kobe only has 16 points at half time and the majority of those were free throws! Steve Nash, however, wasn't too good with his free throws.

Saturday we headed up to Santa Barbara. It's just beautiful there! I had been there with Uncle Bill and Dana, but neither Mom nor Dad had been. We started our day with whale watching. It was also windy and chilly and before we even got on, the captain warned us that we might not see a whale in the current sea conditions and could refund our ticket. He was essentially begging us not to go. We didn't end up seeing a whale, but we saw two dolphins which are apparently a form of a whale. Whatever. Since we didn't see a whale, we got our tickets stamped to come back again for a free excursion. We stamped our tickets and had the genius idea to sell them online. It was a great idea until the boat started on fire that afternoon!!! Not even 2 hours after we got off!! I guess people were more upset than we were about not seeing a whale! (Link to the article http://www.edhat.com/site/tidbit.cfm?nid=110307.)
After our unsuccessful whale watching excursion, we spent the rest of the day wine tasting. The wind died down and it warmed up a lot, so it was a beautiful day! There's an area with a bunch of wine tasting rooms you can walk to. Perfect!

I had a great weekend with my parents. I wish they could stay for more than a couple days at a time. I also wish I could see them more than once every few months.

New Discovery

I discovered the coolest website last week, via a good friend in Philadelphia, called Meetup. "Meetup is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings in various locations around the world. Meetup allows members to find and join groups unified by a common interest. Users enter their ZIP code or their city and the topic they want to meet about, and the website helps them arrange a place and time to meet." Pretty much it's online dating, but for finding friends. It's great because we're all in the same situation wanting to meet/make friends. I went to a meetup on Saturday (it's a miracle I didn't have to work) where we had coffee and waffles. It was fun! There were about 10 of us in this group. This particular group plans meetups 3-4 times a month and I'm hoping I can make it to more! I've joined a few other groups, but haven't gone to any meetups through them yet. There's any group imaginable....dancing, dating, singels in LA, pub crawls, etc. etc. etc. I'm excited to see what, if anything, comes from my new discover.

Printed Pants

I had the coolest {OK I think so anyway} thing happen to me the other day. I was headed to work wearing these pants.

I walked past a group of two guys just hanging out, but they were giving me odd looks. I didn't think much of it, it is LA after all. All of the sudden a third guy across the sidewalk whips a video camera out of his vehicle {a legit, old school video camera...like what my parents used to own} and explained that they were working on trend reporting and wondered if he could record me walking down the street in my pants. Pretty cool!! Yay Michael Kors printed green skinnies!
