My life is a whirlwind

I just don't think I'll ever sleep again! That about sums up my life right now. I really don't have anything too exciting going on, so this is just a random post about all things Rachel lately.
  • I've had a few interviews the past two weeks. I can't say finding a job is a very enjoyable process! But, I keep reminding myself that whatever is meant to be will come along at the right time. Positive thoughts! {I struggle with this on a daily basis... :) }
  • Yesterday was just a day full of disasters. I guess those need to be thrown in the mix to keep things interesting? I can do without.
    • I went to an interview 20 miles {hour bus ride} away...busses apparently don't believe in that distance.
    • The bus didn't stop at the stop I needed, so it added about 5 more blocks of walking for me
    • A man working {a water fixer place maybe?} saw me walking {obviously I looked totally out of place} and wondered if my car broke down. Bless his heart, he offered to give me a ride. I hesitated, but decided I could trust him. Nicest guy EVER!
    • Interview last TWO HOURS {!!!} making me suuuuuper late for work
    • Fun fact: it took over 2 hours on different busses for me to get to work
    • Yesterday just plain sucked. All around!
  • I'm sooo over not having my car out here. Now I just need to somehow find 3-4 days in a row where I have nothing going on. Ha!
  • Played beer pong last weekend for the first time in forever. Took me back a minute to college...
  • I went to a piano bar in Hollywood for Girls Night on Monday. It was a nice change-up from where we usually go. Very cool vibe and atmosphere.
  • We got the Spring Collection in at work! Yay!! Post to follow
  • Anybody want to help me write a book on my disasters??
  • Only a week until my parents come!!! I'm soo excited! Now just to figure out what to do with them while they're here.... ;-)

Weekend Away

Ever since Uncle Bill and Dana moved, I've really missed my weekends out of the city. I finally got a weekend away! One of my good friends I go to FIDM with lives in Laguna Niguel in Orange County. We've been talking about me going to visit her for a while, and it finally worked out this weekend. There were trees and grass...no creepy homeless people...and no sirens and traffic blaring all night. What more could a girl want?! We mainly relaxed~went to a movie then dinner and drinks, did some shopping, and got our hair blown out at the Dry Bar. It was a great weekend and wonderful to get away for a minute!

Yay for the beach!!

The Life of an Intern

The first week of being an intern at BCBG is under my belt. It was so much better than Halston!! My supervisor is super nice and friendly and she actually gives me stuff to work on. I spent a lot of my time this week photographing fronts and backs of samples. It wasn't hard, just very time consuming. Here's to hoping the rest of my internship goes well!!

Super Bowl 2013

I was scheduled to work during the Super Bowl and just kind of wrote it off this year. Change of plans! I ended up getting off work super early, so I went to a party in Calabasas (in the valley) with a few friends. There was an open bar (score!) and a lot of people, so it was a fun environment to watch the game in!

I wasn't really cheering for either the 49ers or the Ravens and I was disappointed in most of the commercials! I almost think that within the next few years, the advertising norm will be social media platforms (i.e. twitter, pinterest, etc.) and Super Bowl commercials will become less and less of a thing. A good majority of the commercials targeted an older target market anyway. Time will tell!

My New Internship

I started a new internship this quarter at BCBG in the Manoukian Merchandising department. It's a brand that BCBG recently acquired and is still growing. It's currently only sold in Lord and Taylor. I didn't do much my first day, but that's to be expected. I'll be going 2 days a week and assisting the merchandising team with samples, getting stuff ready for meetings, taking pictures of samples, etc. I'm really excited about this opportunity! Hopefully this experience is better than the internship I had with Halston!
